Sandra Meech is an international teacher, lecturer, author and maker who exhibits widely in Europe and Canada.
Originally from Ontario, Canada, Sandra came from a career as an illustrator and graphic designer in publishing to textiles and through the City & Guilds adult education program in the UK. After completing the Diploma in Stitched Textiles with Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn at Windsor, Berkshire, she began teaching the working design part of the courses and now is a freelance tutor for summer schools and workshops with Embroiders’ Quilters Guild and textile groups throughout Europe.
Sandra has won many awards with work devoted to the Arctic landscape and the life of the Inuit in communities in the north and many pieces are in collections around the world. A piece was selected by the American Craft Museum (New York) for the recent ‘Six Continents of Quilts’ touring exhibition.
As a member of Quilt Art, an international group of fibre artists based in Europe, Sandra continues to exhibit frequently in venues like the Knitting and Stitching shows and the Festival of Quilts. She is author of Contemporary Quilts…Design, Surface and Stitch (2003) and Creative Quilts…Inspiration, Texture and Stitch (2006), both published by Batsford UK.
